Glory Pavilion

The Glory Pavilion is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the people of Caixi District achieved remarkable accomplishments in expanding the Red Army, supporting the front through production, and building the revolutionary base. In June 1933, the Fujian Provincial Soviet Government awarded Caixi District the honorable title of “First Model District” and presented a stone tablet inscribed with “We Are the First Model District.” In July, to recognize the outstanding contributions of the people of Caixi, the Fujian Provincial Soviet Government built the “Glory Pavilion” in the old market area of Caixi, placing the awarded stone tablet in the center of the pavilion. After the Long March of the Red Army, the reactionary Kuomintang reinstated control in Caixi, and the local people suffered severe suppression and devastation. The Glory Pavilion was completely destroyed by the enemy, but the honored stone tablet awarded by the Provincial Soviet Government was preserved by the people of Caixi at the risk of their lives. After the liberation of China, the Glory Pavilion was rebuilt, and Comrade Mao Zedong was invited to inscribe its name. It is said that this is one of only two pavilion names personally inscribed by Mao Zedong in his lifetime.

The Glory Pavilion is located in Xiacao Village, Caixi Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City. It was built in 1933, destroyed in 1934, and rebuilt in 1955. Covering an area of 580 square meters, it is a European-style brick-and-wood structure. The pavilion features seven arched gates, and inside stands the stone tablet inscribed with “We Are the First Model District.” The pavilion walls display plaques gifted by the Provincial Soviet Government, including “Our First Model District” and “Spring Plowing Movement.” The archway is inscribed with Mao Zedong’s personally written name “Glory Pavilion” in intaglio. In January 1934, the First Model Township Commendation Conference of the Central Revolutionary Base was held here. In 2013, it was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Xiacao Village: Located southwest of Caixi Town and adjacent to the town center, Xiacao Village is separated from Caixi Village by a creek, with the area southwest of the creek belonging to Xiacao Village. The village consists of two natural villages, Fakeng and Zhangkeng, and is the second largest administrative village in Caixi Town. It has 22 villager groups, 828 households, a population of 3,514, about 38 poor households, and 101 Party members (including 3 probationary members and 18 female members). The village has 1,903 mu of arable land and 12,242 mu of forested land. The collective income of the village mainly comes from county and town fiscal transfers and shop rental income. The per capita net income of farmers is approximately 7,100 yuan.
