Yew Ecological Park

Yew Ecological Park is located in Chongtou Village, Buyun Township, Shanghang County, at the southern foot of Meihua Mountain, 12 kilometers from the site of the Gutian Conference. With an elevation ranging from 900 to 1,200 meters and covering an area of 81.8 hectares, it is a national forest park. This pristine forest is densely populated with over 3,000 southern yew trees aged between 500 and 1,600 years. The tallest stands over 30 meters high, and the largest requires five people to encircle its trunk. There is a millennium-old Yew King and two sister yews that grow side by side. The yew is a Class I protected plant in China, a tall evergreen tree that dates back to the Ice Age. Not only is it ancient and rare, but every part of the tree — including the trunk, leaves, and branches — can be used to extract an anti-cancer medicine valued at 180 times the price of gold. Therefore, the large concentration of yew trees found here is extremely rare in the country. Currently, the park has developed several attractions, including the Twin Trees, Yew King, General’s Forest, and Zhidao Shengfo Herbal Valley.
