Shiqifeng Mountain in Shanghang

Shiqifeng Mountain in Shanghang is located to the north of Shanghang County, about 4 kilometers from the county town. The area is covered with lush forests that remain green all year round. According to the Shanghang County Annals, “Among the spiritually and scenically blessed mountains in Hangchuan, this one ranks first.”

In recent years, over 20 scenic spots have been developed on the mountain, including an outdoor sitting Buddha, Jiusong Pavilion, Scenic Viewing Platform, Fushou Pavilion, Teachers’ Tribute Hall, and Chunhui Pavilion. The outdoor sitting Buddha appears to be a giant statue from the outside, but it is actually a five-story building standing 23 meters tall. The first floor serves as a Buddha hall, the second as a scripture pavilion, the third as a reception hall, while the fourth and fifth floors form the head of the Buddha. The entire structure is grand and majestic, making it the largest Buddhist pavilion in Fujian.
