Shanghang Confucius Temple

The Shanghang Confucius Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Shanghang County Confucius Temple is located on Jiefang Road, Linjiang Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City. Also known as the Academy or Confucian School, it was first built in the 16th year of the Jiading era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1223) and rebuilt in the 27th year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1548). It covers an area of 8,713 square meters. Centered around the Dacheng Hall, it is divided into front, middle, and rear gates, with east and west side halls, a Memorial Hall for Distinguished Officials, a Memorial Hall for Local Sages, as well as a ceremonial gate, a Pan Pond, and a Lingxing Gate. The Dacheng Hall features a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof and a post-and-lintel wooden structure. Ten carved stone pillars with dragon designs stand in the main hall, which enshrines the spirit tablet of Confucius. The hall is fronted by carved stone steps. It is the most well-preserved Confucian temple architecture in western Fujian to date. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province in 2001.

Linjiang Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Shanghang County and the county seat. Established as the Suburban District in 1949, it became Chengguan Town in 1953, was reorganized as a commune in 1958, re-established as a town in 1984, and renamed Linjiang Town in 1986. Located in the western part of the county, it covers an area of 4.9 square kilometers with a population of 30,000. National Highway 205 passes through the northern part of the town. The town administers six neighborhood committees: Zhendong, Zhongzhong, Zhennan, Tianshan, Yingming, and Zhenxi. Local township enterprises include cold working machinery plants, cement plants, paper foil factories, and daily bamboo and wood processing plants, with main products including transformers, fluorescent lamps, and cement.
