Shanghang City Wall

Shanghang City Wall is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Shanghang City Wall is located on Linjiang Road, Linjiang Town, Shanghang County, Yan City. It was first built during the Song Dynasty and expanded in the second year of the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty (1466). Constructed with block stones, it had four city gates, including a water gate along the Ting River. Today, only the Yangming Gate and Taiping Gate remain. The relatively well-preserved sections of the wall stretch from Nanguan Wharf to the north side of the county hospital, spanning 997 meters in length, 9 meters in height, and 3.6 meters in thickness. The top of the wall has been reinforced with bricks, while the original battlements and embrasures have been removed and replaced with concrete. It was designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2005.
