Shanghang Sanyuan Pagoda

Shanghang Sanyuan Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Sanyuan Pagoda is located in Yonglian Village, Zhongdu Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City. Also known as Zhougong Pagoda, it was built in the seventh year of the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty (1627). It was constructed at the initiative and expense of regional inspector Zhu Dadian, who passed through the area and prayed for the flourishing of literary fortune in the locality. The pagoda has seven stories and an octagonal shape, featuring a pavilion-style brick-and-wood structure. It stands 26 meters tall, with the first floor’s interior height measuring 2.3 meters. The base is made of stone slabs, and the eaves are built with projecting brick layers. Originally, there was a wooden staircase inside the pagoda connecting all levels, with windows on each floor. In 2009, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Yonglian Village: Yonglian Village borders Fuguang Village to the east, reaches Dengjiang Bridge to the west where it adjoins Shangdeng Village of Lincheng Town, and is 16 kilometers from the county seat. To the south, it neighbors Junlian Village, and to the north, it extends to the foot of Baota (Pagoda) under Sanyuan Ridge. The village covers an area of 6 square kilometers. It currently has 323 households and a population of 1,335, comprising six natural villages—Qingtang, Huangfang, Yaobei, Zhushan, Kengweitou, and Zengjiashan—and 12 villager groups. The area hosts one plywood factory and two power stations.
