Shanghang County Library

Shanghang County Library was established in 1983. The library building was constructed in 1985, and the library moved into its current location in March 1987. The current building covers a construction area of 2,160 m², houses a collection of over 80,000 books, and employs 8 staff members, including 1 with a senior professional title, 4 with intermediate titles, and 3 with junior titles. The library provides various service sections, including an electronic reading room, a government information disclosure reading room, a multifunctional lecture hall, an editorial and cataloging office, a lending room, a periodical reading room, a children’s reading room, a local literature room, and a Chinese reference book reading room. In 2007, the county library was designated as one of the first eight pilot counties for the national cultural information sharing project. Over the years, the library has consistently adhered to the philosophy of “reader first, service foremost,” innovating based on the actual conditions of the county, focusing on the inheritance of distinctive culture, maintaining its unique operational characteristics, and actively serving the county’s political, economic, and cultural development. It has been named a National Second-Class Library by the Ministry of Culture for three consecutive terms, received the title of Fujian Province’s Top Ten Libraries in 2005, was awarded the Public Cultural Facilities Management Advanced Unit by the Ministry of Culture in 2006, and passed the re-evaluation for National Second-Class Library status at the end of 2009.
