Huangkeng Tin Hau Temple

Huangkeng Tin Hau Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Huangkeng Tin Hau Temple is located in Huangkeng Village, Nanyang Town, Shanghang County, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Originally built in the ninth year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1829), it faces west and covers an area of 4,000 square meters. Along the central axis are, in sequence, a liberation pond, a rain courtyard, the lower hall, a patio, and the upper hall. On the north side is the Nanshan Pavilion, and on the south side is a five-bay wing house. Outside the wing house is the Wugu Xian Temple, built in the year of Renyin during the Daoguang reign (1842), covering an area of 29 square meters. The upper hall is three bays wide and five bays deep, featuring a mixed post-and-lintel and through-tenon wooden structure with a flush-gable roof. The Nanshan Pavilion and Wugu Xian Temple are auxiliary structures.

Protected area: 10 meters outward from the drip line on the east side, 10 meters outward from the drip line of the Wugu Xian Temple on the south side, 60 meters outward from the main gate on the west side, and 10 meters outward from the Nanshan Pavilion on the north side.

In 2018, Huangkeng Tin Hau Temple was designated as a ninth-batch provincial-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Huangkeng Village: Huangkeng Village is located to the north of Nanyang Town, 5 kilometers from the town government seat. It borders Rixin Village to the east, Lianyi Village to the west, Luofang Village to the south, and Chaxi Village to the north. The total area is 10 square kilometers. Huangkeng Village is a relatively densely populated residential area, with a total of 19 villager groups, 818 households, 3,718 residents, 66 Party members, 54 villager representatives, and 194 households classified as impoverished. The village committee has well-established subordinate organizations, and the village office is located along the riverside road in the new village.
