Former Residence of Wu Hongxiang

The former residence of Wu Hongxiang is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanghang County and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former residence of Wu Hongxiang is located in Hongxin Group, Yuankang Village, Panjing Township. It faces north and was built during the Qing Dynasty. This simple two-story building is made of earth and wood, covering an area of 110 square meters, with a total depth of 11 meters and a total width of 10 meters. The layout is rectangular, with three rooms on each floor. The first room on the west side of the first floor is where Wu Hongxiang was born. There is a courtyard in front, and a small wing room to the left. Wu Hongxiang (November 1914 – September 2005) joined the revolution in 1928 and made outstanding contributions to the cause. He once served as acting governor of Fujian Province, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and chairman of the Provincial CPPCC.

Protected Area:

To the east, it extends 1 meter outward to the surrounding wall; to the south, it extends 14 meters outward to the northern edge of the village road; to the west, it extends 5 meters outward to the outer courtyard wall of the Wu Shoutang residence; to the north, it extends 1 meter outward to the southern side of the Wu Tianrong bungalow.

Construction Control Zone:

To the east, it extends 4 meters outward from the protected area; to the south, it extends 10 meters outward to the southern edge of the village road; to the west, it extends 10 meters outward to the village road; to the north, it extends 10 meters outward to the drainage ditch.

Yuankang Village: Yuankang Village is located in the southern part of Panjing Township, with convenient transportation. It is 5 kilometers from the township government, 30 kilometers from the county seat, and 12 kilometers from the provincial highway Weihuo Line. At an elevation of 440 meters, it serves as the southern gateway to Panjing Township. The village has 9 villager groups, 3 natural villages, a population of 816, and 48 party members, including 4 female party members. The village has 5 village cadres. The arable land area is 1,214 mu, and the forested area is 16,354 mu. The three natural villages of Yuankang grow various economic crops such as red persimmons, plums, bamboo, and flue-cured tobacco.
