The former site of the Soviet Government in Jiuxian District (Dunhe Hall) is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanghang County and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Soviet Government in Jiuxian District (Dunhe Hall) is located in Hexi Village, Jiuxian Town. Commonly known as the Mast House, construction began in the second year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1724) and took over 20 years to complete. It was burned down by the Taiping Army in the third year of the Tongzhi reign (1864) and subsequently rebuilt, remaining preserved to this day. Facing south and situated on a north-south axis, it covers an area of more than 26,000 square meters, with a built-up area of approximately 11,000 square meters. It is a four-courtyard, five-row Hakka enclosed-style building constructed with brick and wood. The main hall features a mixed post-and-lintel and bracket-arm wooden frame structure. Since 1929, it has not only served as the office of the grassroots political organization in the Central Soviet Area but also functioned for a long period as a station along the Red Transportation Route of the Central Soviet Area.

To the east, it extends 4 meters outward to a ditch; to the south, 20 meters outward to a surrounding wall; to the west, 4 meters outward to a ditch; to the north, 4.8 meters outward to the surrounding wall of Chen Zhensheng’s residence.

To the east, it extends 10 meters outward from the protected area to a ditch; to the south, 35 meters outward to the northern edge of the village road; to the west, 20 meters outward to the western side of Chen Yuanxian’s residence; to the north, 15 meters outward to the small path in front of Chen Zhenhua’s residence.

Located in the northern part of Shanghang County, on the west bank of the Jiuxian River, a tributary of the Ting River, National Highway 205 runs through the village, which lies against mountains and near water. To the southeast, it borders Hedong, Longxi, and Quanfang villages across the river; to the west, it neighbors Yaopu Village and Caixi Town; to the north, it adjoins Nanyang Town and Bashi Village.
