Hua Family Residence

The Hua Family Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanghang County.

The Hua Family Residence is located at Zhutoubai, Hua Village, Jiaoyang Town. It was built in the fourth year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1726) by Hua Xueqian (styled Xingyi). The building covers an area of approximately 500 square meters, faces south with a north orientation, and features a three-courtyard, three-row layout. Constructed with a brick-and-wood structure, it has over 30 rooms. The gate tower is a stone memorial archway, with a stone horizontal plaque inscribed “Hongtu Xianrui” (Auspicious Visions Unveiled) embedded above the doorway. A pair of stone flagpoles stands on either side of the gate tower, and a plaque inscribed “Zhou Sima Di” (Residence of the Prefectural Administrator) is preserved.

Protected Area:

To the east, it extends 1 meter outward to the west side of the residence of Hua Zihui; to the south, it extends 3 meters outward to the north side of the residence of Hua Ziyu; to the west, it extends 2 meters; and within 20 meters to the north.

Construction Control Zone:

To the east, it extends 10 meters outward from the protected area to the east side of the residence of Hua Zihui; to the south, it extends 20 meters outward to the plaza outside the main gate of the residence of Hua Ziyu; to the west, it extends 6 meters; and to the north, it extends 20 meters.

Hua Village: Hua Village is located in the southwestern part of Jiaoyang Town, about 10 kilometers from the Jiaoyang Town government. Provincial Highway 308 runs through the village. The village covers an area of 16.8 square kilometers, with 2,427 mu of arable land and 16,757 mu of forest land. It currently has 2 natural villages, 19 villager groups, 483 households, and a population of over 1,900. Among them, the Lei family in Daping natural village consists of over 50 households and around 200 people. The average elevation of the village is 680 meters, with an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, placing it in the high-altitude cold zone of western Fujian.
