Rao Fang Wenguang Courtyard

Rao Fang Wenguang Courtyard is a cultural heritage site protected by Shanghang County.

Rao Fang Wenguang Courtyard is located at No. 1 Xinxing Road, Rao Fang Village, Zhongdu Town. Built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, it covers an area of approximately 1,200 square meters. The structure faces south and is a traditional enclosed earthen-and-wood building. It has a total depth of 40 meters and a width of 30 meters, featuring a hanging hip roof, four courtyards in a row, and four sections. The main section includes, in sequence, an outer gate, inner courtyard, inner gate, entrance hall, patio (with corridors on three sides), main hall, patio (with side rooms on both sides), and two rear buildings at the front and back. The wings on both sides of the main section have two floors. In front of the entire complex there is a fish pond, and behind it a well. There are a total of 10 patios, 13 halls, and 85 rooms.

Protected area: 5 meters eastward extension to vegetable fields; 30 meters southward extension to farmland drainage ditches; 5 meters northward extension to vegetable fields; 5 meters westward extension to vegetable fields.

Construction control zone: 5 meters eastward from the protected area boundary to a pond; 30 meters southward from the protected area boundary to a farmland creek; 10 meters westward from the protected area boundary to the eastern edge of a pond; 10 meters northward from the protected area boundary to vegetable fields.

Rao Fang Village: Rao Fang Village is the location of the Zhongdu Town center. The village covers an area of 0.5 square kilometers, with 363 mu of arable land and 1,673 mu of forested land. The village has six villager groups, 133 households, 450 residents, and 37 Party members. Rao Fang Village earnestly implements decisions and arrangements from higher authorities, achieving commendable results in the development of “three civilizations,” and has been awarded multiple honors by higher-level party and government departments, including Civilized Village, Credit Village, and Advanced Village in Target Management.
