Former Residence of Ding Ganru

The former residence of Ding Ganru is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanghang County.

The former residence of Ding Ganru is located at No. 31, Bisha Road, Bisha Village, Baisha Town. Also known as Chongde Hall, it was built during the Qing Dynasty, covering an area of approximately 900 square meters. The main building faces north and sits on a southward orientation, while the outer gate faces east and sits on a westward orientation. The lintel of the outer gate is inscribed in intaglio with the words “山水含辉” (Mountain and Water Radiate Brilliance), and the lintel of the main gate is inscribed in intaglio with “山辉川媚” (The Mountain Glows and the River Charms). Ding Ganru (1917–1995) was a native of Shanghang County, Fujian Province. He joined the Communist Youth League of China in 1930, enlisted in the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in 1932, and became a member of the Communist Party of China in 1933 after transitioning from a Youth League member. In September 1955, he was awarded the rank of Senior Colonel in the People's Liberation Army, and was promoted to Major General in 1961. He was conferred the Third Class August 1st Medal, the Second Class Independence and Freedom Medal, and the Second Class Liberation Medal. During the Korean War, he was awarded the Second Class Independence and Freedom Medal of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. In July 1988, he was awarded the First Class Red Star Medal of Merit by the Central Military Commission.

Bisha Village: Bisha Village is located at the source of the Nine-Bend Stream. The village administers two revolutionary base villages: Bishakeng and Daluxia, comprising a total of five villager groups with a population of 142 households and 573 people. The total land area of the village is 13,720 mu, including 11,800 mu of forested land, 4,000 mu of bamboo forest, and 420 mu of arable land, with a forest coverage rate of 86%.
