Pujia Dun Site

The Pujia Dun Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Pujia Dun Site is located in Pujiazhuang, Linlou Village, Dawang Township, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. It is a platform-shaped mound, stretching 65 meters from north to south, 55 meters from east to west, and standing 8.3 meters high. The cultural layer is 5.1 meters thick, and the site sits at an elevation of 25.4 meters. It is a Neolithic-period site.

Between May and October 1985, cultural authorities in Anhui Province conducted three surveys and confirmed that the Pujia Dun Site is a Neolithic-period site.

In December 1985, it was designated as a municipal-level key cultural heritage protection unit of Chuzhou City.

To the east of Pujia Dun lies a large former riverbed now used as farmland, extending about 15 kilometers in length. The mound gently slopes southward, forming an angle of approximately 30° with the ground. On the northwest side of the mound, there is a 90° cross-section where five to seven distinct layers of accumulated cultural deposits are visible.

A total of five stone tools were collected, including rectangular and trapezoidal stone axes used for hunting, irregularly shaped and sharp-edged chopping stones, a pottery spindle whorl that is smooth all over with a central hole and a wheel diameter of 3.3 cm, an animal horn bone awl that is smooth in texture and has one end measuring 10.6 cm in length, as well as deer antlers (including one piece that is slightly fossilized), animal teeth, and seashells. In addition, more than 70 pottery fragments were found (including tripod feet, li tripod legs, li tripod partitions, jar rims, etc., made of red, gray, and black pottery, decorated with cord marks, string patterns, and combinations of both).
