Guoguang Tower

Guoguang Tower is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Guoguang Tower was first built in the sixth year of the Longqing era during the Ming Dynasty (1572), originally named Zunjing Pavilion. During the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Kuiguang Tower, and in the first year of the Republic of China, it received its current name, which has been used ever since. The tower is constructed of brick and stone, standing 14 meters tall with three stories, a cylindrical tile roof, and double eaves with upturned corners. At the base of the tower, there is an east-west arched gate, above which is a stone engraving of the characters “Kuiguang,” embedded during the renovation in the fourth year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1665).

Due to its location “facing the mountains and overlooking the river, in the most commanding position,” Guoguang Tower is exceptionally grand. Scholars have praised it as: towering and majestic, truly spectacular. Viewers are awed, and climbers feel their spirits wandering — it commands the full magnificence of the ancient city of Quanjiao.

Transportation Routes: Take bus No. 3 from Quanjiao Railway Station to Qianjiahui Station, then walk 1.5 kilometers to reach the scenic area; for self-driving, exit the Hefei-Nanjing Expressway at the Quanjiao interchange, drive 2.5 kilometers toward the county town to arrive.
