Tomb of Wu Guojin

The Tomb of Wu Guojin is a cultural heritage protection unit of Quanjiao County.

The Tomb of Wu Guojin is located on a hillside 50 meters south of Chenhuang Highway in Chenwa Natural Village, Henan Administrative Village, five kilometers southwest of Huanglishu Township (now under Shipei Town). Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is classified as an ancient tomb, covering an area of 100 square meters. It is among the third batch of cultural heritage protection units in Quanjiao County, with the announcement document number Quanzheng [2007] No. 32.

Wu Guojin (1606–1680), styled Yulin and also known as Zhihou, was a native of Quanjiao in southern Jiangnan (now Quanjiao, Anhui). His wife was from the Cheng family. He was the third son of Wu Pei. A successful candidate in the imperial examinations at the provincial level in the 12th year of the Chongzhen era (1639), he became a presented scholar in the 6th year of the Shunzhi era (1649), and was awarded the title of Wenlin Lang after the palace examination in the 9th year (1652). Given his talent and reputation, he could have been selected for an official scholarly post but was thwarted by malicious schemes and returned home. He loved traveling and exploring nature, and later served as a professor at the Jiangning Prefecture School. Noting the school’s decline, he advocated for its restoration.
