Tongjing Site

The Tongjing Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Quanjiao County.

The Tongjing Site is located 2 kilometers southeast of Machang Town. It dates back to the Ming Dynasty, is classified as an ancient site, and covers an area of 22,000 square meters. It is among the third batch of cultural heritage protection units in Quanjiao County, with the announcement document number Quan Zheng [2007] No. 32.

Protected area: within 200 meters of the Tongjing well and the ancient linden tree.

Construction control zone: extends 200 meters outward from the protected area boundary.

Machang Town: Located in the eastern part of Anhui Province, Machang Town borders Nanjing to the east and Hefei to the west, and is within the core area of the Nanjing metropolitan circle. The town covers a total area of 97 square kilometers, governs 12 villages and one neighborhood committee, with a total population of 30,000. The town area itself spans 2.5 square kilometers and has a population of 12,000.

Machang Town is a mountainous township with a history of over a hundred years. Its reputation as a bustling commercial hub — “Greater Machang” — has left a deep impression on people across hundreds of kilometers. It has been successively approved as an established town and a pilot town for small-town reform in Anhui Province.
