Rang Spring

Introduction The "Record of the Drunkard's Pavilion" states: "After walking six or seven li up the mountain, you gradually hear the sound of flowing water, which cascades down between two peaks—this is Rang Spring." Located in front of the Drunkard's Pavilion, Rang Spring is encircled by a square stone pool built beside its springhead. The water flows into the pool before merging with the mountain stream. The pool measures three chi (approximately 1 meter) on each side and is about two chi (around 0.67 meters) deep. Above the pool, there is a stone stele inscribed with the characters “Rang Quan” (Rang Spring), erected in the 40th year of the Kangxi reign (1701) by Wang Cikui, the prefect of Chuzhou. The temperature of Rang Spring remains relatively constant throughout the year, staying at around 17–18 degrees Celsius. The spring water is described as "sweet as nectar, clear as glass," hence it is also known as "Glass Spring."
