The Huaiyuan County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Huaiyuan County Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery was completed in August 2002 and is located within the scenic Jing Mountain Cemetery. The cemetery faces south and covers an area of 2,600 square meters. At the center stands a rectangular granite memorial stele, which is 1.5 meters high and 3.1 meters wide, with a three-tiered base that is 0.85 meters tall. The stele bears a gold-plated engraving of eight Chinese characters—“人民英雄永垂不朽” (Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes)—copied from the handwriting of Chairman Mao Zedong. The first five martyrs buried here were five brave Huaiyuan natives who sacrificed their lives during the Sino-Vietnamese Self-Defense Counterattack War. In October 2002, to honor their legacy and promote the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, the Huaiyuan County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the County People’s Government engraved the names of 504 Huaiyuan martyrs on a Revolutionary Martyrs’ Memorial Plaque for commemoration and reverence. These included revolutionary fighters from the democratic revolution period, martyrs who contributed to the founding of New China, as well as those who gave their lives during the Sino-Vietnamese Self-Defense Counterattack War and in protecting people’s lives and property. The plaque, measuring 6.3 meters long, 1.2 meters high, and 1.1 meters wide, is made of granite and located on the east side of the cemetery. In the same period, the “Twin Heroes Pavilion” was planned and built in honor of two Huaiyuan natives and Huanghuagang martyrs—Cheng Liang and Song Yulin—and was completed in April 2003. This pavilion is made of granite, standing nine meters tall, with a base platform of 2.1 meters and a footprint of 8.8 square meters. It is assembled from 188 pieces of dark red polished granite.

To better fulfill the role of the martyrs’ cemetery as a patriotic education base, daily management, maintenance, landscaping, and visitor reception have been strengthened. In recent years, the cemetery has increased collaboration with local schools such as the County Experimental Middle School, County Experimental Primary School, and Jingtu School. It hosts significant events including students' induction into the Young Pioneers, the Communist Youth League, and coming-of-age ceremonies. Through activities such as discussions, tours, and guided explanations, a variety of educational initiatives focusing on moral values and patriotism have been carried out. On major holidays and memorial days (such as Qingming, July 1st, August 1st, and September 18th), services are provided to receive cadres, masses, and visitors from all walks of life. These visits help people learn about the heroic deeds of figures from various historical periods, achieving positive social impact and fully realizing the educational and promotional role of the patriotic education base.
