Xizi Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Xizi Lake Ecotourism Area is located in the southeastern part of Tongcheng City, within Xizi Lake Town, an outstanding tourism town in Anhui Province. Surrounded by water on three sides with well-developed land and water transportation, it is 25 kilometers from the city center, close to the famous riverside city of Anqing, and only a 1.5-hour drive from the provincial capital Hefei. The waterways connect to the Yangtze River via Congchuan, allowing access both upstream to regions like Huguang and downstream to cities such as Suzhou and Hangzhou. Covering an area of 71 square kilometers, including 30 square kilometers of land and 41 square kilometers of water, it is a multifunctional national AAAA-level scenic area integrating eco-agricultural sightseeing, science and culture experiences, fishing leisure, outdoor adventures, rural vacations, conference and business services, and specialty dining.

The Xizi Lake Scenic Area currently features attractions and tourism facilities such as the Xizi Lake Resort, Xizi Lake Wellness Hotel, ecological wetlands, fishing centers, outdoor adventure activities, the ancient Canal Transport Eight Wharves, Xizi Fairy Island, the Twelve Zodiac Garden, astronomy science education and 4D dynamic cinema, water park, amusement park, Happy Park, aerial bikes, agricultural and fruit picking, visitor reception center, Fang Yizhi Square, and ecological parking lot. It offers seasonal tourism programs including wetland sightseeing in spring, leisure fishing in summer, fruit picking in autumn, and snow viewing and bird watching in winter.

The excellent ecology and beautiful environment of Xizi Lake make it a paradise for birds. The surrounding wetlands are continuous, and rare migratory birds settle here seasonally, forming a rare wetland landscape. It has become a long-term observation site for Anhui Agricultural University and is also a key member of the EU Biodiversity Conservation Organization. Every winter, the lakeside beaches and wetlands, rich in aquatic plants and teeming with fish and crabs, attract tens of thousands of rare birds such as the Eurasian spoonbill, swan goose, Siberian crane, little egret, and black stork for the winter.

“No need to see other mountains after Huangshan, no need to eat fish after leaving Xizi Lake.” Xizi Lake is abundant in fish and green, eco-friendly products, offering a wide variety of high-quality options such as wild geese, wild ducks, pheasants, wild soft-shell turtles, loaches, shrimp, eels, free-range pork, and home-style stir-fries—all enticing enough to make travelers stop their horses and cars for a taste. Xizi Lake Wellness Hotel incorporates the concept of traditional Chinese medicinal cuisine into its dining, selecting ingredients with health benefits or therapeutic properties based on different demographics, ages, constitutions, and seasons. Xizi Lake Town: Located in the southeastern part of Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, the town center is 25 kilometers from downtown Tongcheng. Surrounded by water on three sides, it faces Guzhen County across Baitu Lake to the east, borders Caizi Lake and Xizi Lake to the south and west, connecting with Yixiu District of Anqing, Shuanggang Town, and Jinshen Town of our city, and adjoins Kongcheng Town to the north. The total administrative area is 134.7 square kilometers, including 76 square kilometers of lake area surrounding the town, accounting for about 56% of the total.
