Zaoqing Mountain

Known as the "Little Jiuhua of the North," Zaoqing Mountain is a renowned Buddhist sacred site in Anhui Province north of the Yangtze River. Located in Kongcheng Town of our city, it is 18 kilometers from downtown Tongcheng. Surrounded by peaks of the Tongzi Mountain range, with overlapping ridges and ranges, the mountain stands alone, towering and steep, with beautiful scenery and delightful charm; one of the ancient "Eight Scenic Spots of Tongcheng," the "Tongzi Clear Mist" scene, originates here. The mountaintop is dotted with densely arranged buildings, pavilions, and towers in diverse styles; the Mahavira Hall, Scripture Depository, and Buddha Worship Hall are all noteworthy. The entire mountain is enveloped in lush greenery, and when viewed from afar, the Kongcheng River resembles a white silk ribbon lying at the foot of the mountain, once famed in ancient times as the "Evening Snow." The mountain enjoys a mild climate, abundant sunlight, and rich wildlife resources. Hiking to enjoy the view, chanting scriptures, and worshipping Buddha bring a sense of peace and joy. The mountain is a popular site of worship with far-reaching fame and high potential for tourism development. Four kilometers south of Zaoqing Mountain lies the No. 1 Old Street of the North—the Kongcheng Old Street—where Ming and Qing dynasty relics abound. The famous Tongxiang Academy is located on Middle Street, and its main structure, the Chaoyang Building, remains well-preserved. The old street features an ancient and robust architectural style, with wooden mortise-and-tenon houses and painted corridors along the street, faintly echoing its former prosperity. The street surface is paved with thousands of bluestones, a marvel in the north of the Yangtze. At the end of the old street lies the historic site of "Dibù Returning Sails."
