The former site of Tongxiang Academy is located on Kongcheng Old Street in Kongcheng Town. The existing Chaoyang Tower is a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit.

The Tongxiang Academy was built in the 20th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1840) and consists of sections such as Chaoyang Tower, Laifang Jingshe, lecture hall, inner hall, rear hall, classrooms, storage rooms, accounting room, and also features a “Kuanghuai Garden.” On both sides of the academy’s main gate, there are relief stone drums and stone lions, with a stone plaque inscribed with “Tongxiang Academy” in the handwriting of Dai Junheng embedded above the door. The existing Chaoyang Tower, oriented east-west, is a brick-and-wood structure with a double-sloped roof. It has three bays on each of the upper and lower floors. The wooden beams on the upper floor are adorned with carved floral patterns, and the corridors on the east and west sides are fitted with wooden railings, giving the building an elegant and refined appearance.

Kongcheng Town: Located in the eastern part of Tongcheng City, bordering Lujiang County and Zongyang County, Kongcheng Town is a provincial-level central town. The town covers a total area of 87.8 square kilometers, with a built-up area of 3.5 square kilometers and a planned urban area of 5 square kilometers. It governs 13 villages and 2 neighborhood committees, with a population of 52,000. It is an important and economically strong town in the eastern part of Tongcheng City.

Kongcheng has a long history and rich cultural heritage.
