The Ancestral Hall of the Liu Clan at Liujing

The Ancestral Hall of the Liu Clan at Liujing, built during the Qing Dynasty, is located in Liujing Village Group, Yangshudian Village, Xindu Town, Tongcheng City. The hall faces south and has three sections arranged along a north-south axis, covering an area of over 200 square meters. The front section consists of seven bays, with narrower side bays on the east and west. It features a post-and-lintel wooden structure with square stone bases under the beams, some of which are carved. The entrance hall is recessed, and the door faces slightly southwest, with plain drum stones atop stone plinths and colorful figure paintings beneath the eaves. The rear section also has a post-and-lintel wooden structure with five bays, featuring a rolled shed (curved roof canopy) in the front eaves. Between the shed and the beams are bracket sets (dou), beneath which are carved flowers and birds. The columns rest on blue stone bases with decorative carvings. Inside, there is an incense pavilion housing memorial tablets of the Liu ancestors. The middle section has been destroyed, though remnants remain.

In 2004, members of the Liu clan restored the front and rear sections of the ancestral hall to their original appearance. The current condition is well preserved. The entire complex is solemn and majestic, grand and spacious, with exquisitely fine carvings, making it a masterpiece among ancestral hall architectures in the Tongcheng area.
