Catholic Church Girls' School

The Catholic Church Girls' School is located at No. 10 Yujiawan Lane, Gongyuan Neighborhood Committee, Wenchang Subdistrict Office, Tongcheng City, Anhui Province, covering an area of 402㎡. It currently consists of a front and rear section, as well as wing rooms. The main structure faces south and is situated on a north-south axis, with the entrance gate oriented toward the southeast. Above the gate tower, six large characters in regular script read “Catholic Church Girls' School.”

The front section is a single-story building with five bays, and the rear section also has a single story with five bays. There is one wing room on the east side and one on the west, forming a central courtyard. A secondary courtyard is also formed between the front section and the outer wall. The courtyard is planted with loquat and osmanthus trees. The building is surrounded by tall fireproof walls, giving it a majestic presence. The entire structure is logically laid out, with an elegant and clean style, embodying the typical characteristics of local residential architecture.

During the Republican era, this site was converted into a girls' school run by the Catholic Church. There used to be a nearby Catholic church, which was demolished during the construction of the Tongcheng People's Hospital.

The Catholic Church Girls' School is the only remaining building in the area related to Catholicism, providing important physical material for the study of local traditional residences and the introduction of Catholicism to the region.
