Pisnowaterfall Cliff Inscriptions

The Pisnowaterfall Cliff Inscriptions are a cultural tourism attraction.

The Pisnowaterfall Cliff Inscriptions are located at the foot of Bifeng Mountain in Wenchang Subdistrict, Tongcheng City. Beneath the western cliff of the front waterfall, there is an inscription from the Shaoxing era of the Song Dynasty: “Fu Yang’s Wang Fu, who believes in the Dao, Jian’an’s Chen Xincheng, Yingyang’s Zhang Yao, Zihou, Hefei’s Huangfu Songsheng, ascended together on the day of Jia Yin in the first month of the Bingzi year, Shaoxing era of the Song Dynasty.” On the northern cliff face of the rear waterfall, the two clerical-style characters “Bengxue” (Collapsing Snow) are carved.

Pisnowaterfall is divided into three parts: the front waterfall, Pilon, and the rear waterfall. “The front waterfall is majestic, the rear one is perilous, and Pilon is long and narrow with wondrous scenery.” The Tongcheng County Annals (Continued Edition), compiled in the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, states: “After rain, the Pisnowaterfall cascades down, attracting visitors who often leave poetic inscriptions.” As early as the Northern Song Dynasty, this place had already become a well-known scenic destination.

The Pisnowaterfall Cliff Inscriptions are a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit.
