Yian Garden

Yian Garden is located on the picturesque Yian North Road in the urban area. Originally a wild, low-lying piece of land, in 2000, the Tongling Municipal Government initiated the Yian Garden project as a practical benefit for the public. After its completion, due to its relatively low elevation, the garden came to be known as a "pocket park right before your eyes."

Yian Garden isn’t very large—covering about 3,000 square meters. Descending along the roadside steps, you’ll be greeted by a verdant lake that resembles a mirror, reflecting the city’s high-rises. The lake is divided by a Qihu Stone Arch Bridge, while lush trees densely line its shores, some reaching over ten meters in height. Particularly eye-catching are the graceful willow trees, which stand like elegant ladies, their drooping branches gently “kissing” the lake surface. When a breeze drifts by, the reflections of pavilions on the water ripple and shimmer, creating a mesmerizing, ever-changing scene. The lake is encircled by stone walls, which skilled artisans have cleverly crafted into resting spots. Along the water’s edge lies a cobblestone path that feels like a soft carpet, welcoming hundreds of visitors each day.

After a bout of wind and rain, the scenery of Yian Garden becomes even more enchanting. Amid the misty ambiance, fallen leaves float across the lake, while countless dragonflies flit about, adding vitality to the water’s surface. Perhaps due to the heat, bats skim the lake, using their bellies to touch the water as a way to cool down. The post-rain period is also ideal for fishing—even if anglers don’t catch anything for hours, they find joy in the leisurely experience.

Two pavilions in Yian Garden stand facing each other across the lake. The lotus flowers blooming on the water never bend—an embodiment of their nobility and elegance. Though not numerous, the lotuses lend a touch of vitality to the garden.

Most visitors to Yian Garden are middle-aged and elderly locals who take advantage of the garden’s peaceful setting, gathering in small groups for leisurely activities. They enjoy lake-gazing, playing cards, chatting, reading newspapers, practicing exercises, or bringing their grandchildren along for family fun. Outside the pavilion is an observation deck furnished with over ten circular marble tables—similar ones are scattered throughout Yian Garden, providing ideal spots for board games and card players. Standing in the middle of the lake and looking up, you’ll see a skyline of high-rises. The lake and buildings complement each other beautifully, resembling a traditional Chinese painting that captivates and lingers in the heart.
