Liujingtang
Liujingtang is located in Wulong Township, on the easternmost tip of Sijiao Island in the Shengsi Archipelago, facing the vast East China Sea. With its rugged rocks, steep cliffs, and crashing waves, it is the best place to view the sunrise over the sea and watch the departure of countless fishing boats. Intro
duction
In the early morning, stand at the edge of Liujintou and quietly wait for the eastern sky to brighten, as the sun rises brilliantly from the horizon, painting the sea red and filling you with indescribable excitement from head to toe. Thousands of fishing boats set sail toward the East China Sea, creating a spectacular sight.
Along the newly built wooden staircase, the First Dragon Chair of the East China Sea stands nearby. Descend slowly, with steep cliffs beneath your feet and the sound of surging tides in your ears—it’s thrilling. Here, you can admire the peculiar reefs and the ever-changing moods of the sea.
Poets say that reefs are the home of the sea, and the sea is the clothing of the reefs. The sea of Shengsi is also a unique wonder of the area: when gentle, the sea is light and graceful, with waves embracing the reefs, rising and falling as if in an intimate dance with the islets and rocks; when fierce, the raging waves engulf giant boulders, and the torrents crash against the cliffs, sending up “thousands of heaps of snow,” making the numerous strange and rugged rocks appear and disappear in the misty splendor. The sea’s purity, its gentleness, and especially its wild dances give the hundreds of islets a dynamic beauty within their stillness, evoking endless emotions and childhood dreams.
