Shengshan Goji Scenic Area
The Shengshan Goji Scenic Area is located in the easternmost part of the Shengsi Islands National Tourist Resort. The scenic area includes Shengshan Island and Goji Island, and is characterized by its fishing village charm, towering sea cliffs, and maritime folklore.
On Shengshan Island, the real blue sea and sky stretch out as far as the eye can see. Around the island, ships shuttle through the waves, while rust-colored sails rise and fall between the sunrise and sunset.
At night, Shengshan Fishing Port gathers countless boats, their masts standing like a forest. Fishing lights shine brightly, reflecting both above and below the water, creating a scene akin to a “never-sleeping city on the sea”… Here, natural landscapes blend seamlessly with fishing village culture, making it one of the most distinctive features of Shengsi’s island tourism.
Walking around the island to view the cliffs and climbing high to watch the raging waves is one of the highlights of the Shengshan Goji Scenic Area. The East Cliff of Shengshan is situated at the island’s easternmost tip and is one of the top attractions of the Shengsi Islands. Its continuous cliffs stretch for several kilometers, rising tens of meters high, plunging straight into the sea where raging waves crash against the rock, sending up “thousands of piles of spray.”
At the summit of Wulibei Mountain on Goji Island stands a massive rock towering in midair, inscribed with the four large characters “Mountain and Sea Wonder,” written by Hou Jigao, the Ming Dynasty Regional Commander-in-Chief of Zhejiang and Jiangnan. Other attractions such as Little Western Heaven, Goji Beach, Ao Fish Rock, Twin Rocks, Couple Peak, Dragon Emerging from the Sea, and the Marine Ranch are also uniquely charming.
