Shengshan Island
Shengshan, anciently known as Chenqian Mountain and also called Jinshan, is referred to by the locals as the “country’s edge at the ends of the earth” in the East China Sea and the homeland of the sun.
There are two scenic wonders on Shengshan Island that must not be missed: one is the East Cliff on the island, and the other is the fishing lights at Shengshan Fishing Port.
The East Cliff is a rugged coastline over 1,000 meters long on the eastern side of Shengshan Island. It rises abruptly from the sea, as if cleaved by knives and axes, with heights ranging between 60–70 meters, and reaching over 80 meters at its highest point—truly spectacular.
Standing atop the East Cliff, the roaring waves beneath are both awe-inspiring and chilling, while looking out reveals the vast ocean dotted with fishing boats—a serene and uplifting sight. The blend of these two experiences offers a unique insight into the mysteries of island life and the ocean’s mood.
The island also features one of Shengsi’s most remarkable rock formations, “Lover’s Rock.” The beach beside the Lovers’ Rocks is a popular summer swimming spot for locals.
