Xiaoxitian of Shengsi

Xiaoxitian is the highest peak on the island. The mountain path is rugged, and currently Xiaoxitian is just a barren hill that most visitors do not reach. However, it is located at the western end of the island and offers the best spot to watch the sunset.

If you want to take sunset photos, it is recommended not to go to the mountaintop of Xiaoxitian but to the mountainside instead. Here, the foreground features a fishing village, and as the sun sets, fishing boats are moored in the glittering harbor, creating a very beautiful scene.

Reminder: When visiting Gouqi Beach near dusk, follow the village path to the side of the cement road. You can hire a chartered car (minimum round-trip agreed price is 60 yuan) to go to Xiaoxitian to watch the sunset.

Transportation

Take a boat from Xiaocaiyuan Pier. There are only two daily departures: the slow boat at 7:30 AM takes about 2 hours, and the speedboat at 11:50 AM takes about 1 hour. You can buy tickets on the day at Xiaocaiyuan Pier or purchase them one day in advance at Shengsi Bus Station.

After arriving at Gouqi Island, there are many minibuses available for hire to Xiaoxitian. The fare is calculated based on distance, generally around 20–30 yuan. Taxis are also available but do not use meters, so be sure to agree on the price in advance.
