Golden Rooster Mountain Fishing Village

Golden Rooster Mountain is a small island very close to Sijiao. The island has a fishing village, and climbing to a high vantage point to overlook the fishing harbor makes for great photographic material.

On the island, you can experience the charm of the fishing village and harbor. During the fishing moratorium or typhoon season, the harbor fills with fishing boats, allowing you to board the boats, chat with the fishermen, learn about the most authentic fishing life, and explore various parts of the fishing vessels. If you’re a photography enthusiast, you can also use these fishing boats as a backdrop to capture a vivid series of fishing village-themed photos.

It is named for its proximity to Little Golden Rooster Mountain. The island covers an area of 1.72 square kilometers. Apart from the relatively open valley of Golden Rooster'ao, the rest consists of sloping land and small inlets. The highest point is Niubeiji Mountain, with an elevation of 132.5 meters. The island is mostly planted with Japanese black pine, and the forest coverage rate is about 50%. Most residents make a living from fishing and live scattered across six natural villages, with a population of over 4,000. In 1934, the area was first established as an administrative township, now called Jinping Township, with its government seat located in Huangnikan Village. Before the 1970s, the island was famous for producing high-quality "three-processed jellyfish," which were bestsellers in the domestic market, earning it the nickname "Jellyfish Hometown."
