Dashihuanglong Island

Dashihuanglong Island, covering an area of 5.2 square kilometers, is one of the earliest inhabited islands in the Shengsi Archipelago. The island boasts abundant cultural and natural landscapes, among which the Yuanbao Stone is the most famous. The surrounding waters of Huanglong Island are vast and rich in fish resources. The processed shrimp, in particular, is renowned for its large size, bright red color, clean meat, and delicious taste. Due to its curved hook-like shape, it is named “Golden Hook Shrimp,” highly favored by people from all walks of life, hence earning Huanglong Island the reputation of the “Hometown of Shrimp.” Throughout history, literati, poets, and heroes who visited this place often left behind inscriptions, resulting in numerous cliff carvings. At the cliff top of Da’ao Shanjiao on Huanglong Island, the four large characters “瀚海风情” (Sea Breeze Charm) are inscribed. It is recorded that these were written by General Liu Bingwen, who was in charge of the Ningbo-Shaoxing region during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era, and General Chen Mengdou, the guerrilla leader of Ningjia, when they patrolled the sea and arrived here. Opposite Huanglong Island is Wulong Township at the eastern end of Sijiao Island. The fish and shrimp there are also exceptionally fresh, and visitors can enjoy some of the freshest seafood.

Dashihuanglong Island in Shengsi is a relatively pristine natural island, with a life on the island that feels like a paradise.

On the mountainside of Dashihuanglong Island, there is a village that stands out vividly on the quiet isle. The houses on the island are built from stone, making them very sturdy and highly resistant to wind.

Xiaohuanglong Island is located to the left of Dashihuanglong Island and is an uninhabited small island.

Transportation

Accessible by ferry from Wulong Township; or by taking a local transport boat from Xiaocaiyuan Wharf. The boat is called “Bihai Lun” (Sea Blue Wheel) and does not operate in winds of Force 6 or above.
