The Inscription of the Scenic Wonder of Mountains and Seas is a protected cultural relic site of Zhejiang Province.

The Inscription of the Scenic Wonder of Mountains and Seas is located in Gouqi Township, Shengsi County, dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

The "Scenic Wonder of Mountains and Seas" stone carving is located on Gouqi Island in Shengsi County, engraved on a huge rock that is 9 meters high and 8 meters wide. The four bold characters were written in the 18th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1589) by Commander Hou Jigao during his inspection cruise. He climbed to a high vantage point, overlooked the scene, and was inspired to carve the words. Each character stands 1.6 meters tall and 1.3 meters wide, rendered in strong, vigorous strokes with a majestic aura. It has been listed as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit. From atop the monument, one can take in the unique surrounding scenery: “azure sea and sky, offshore pastures, golden beaches, and tranquil island fishing villages”—a truly mesmerizing sight.

On January 7, 2011, it was designated as part of the sixth group of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Gouqi Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Shengsi County. Established in 1934, it became a commune in 1962 and was reinstated as a township in 1984. Located in the eastern part of the county, it includes 33 islands of varying sizes, including Gouqi Island. The total land area is 5.9 square kilometers, with Gouqi Island alone covering 5.6 square kilometers and a population of 10,000. The terrain is mainly hilly island landscape, with gently sloping central areas and open valleys. It administers eight village committees: Dawang, Shipu, Shengli, Gouqi, Wusha, Miaogan, Ganshe, and Lixi. The local economy is primarily based on fishing, with main aquaculture products including mussels, abalone, oysters, wakame, kelp, hijiki, and grouper.
