Daju Island Scenic Area

The Daju Island Scenic Area consists of Daju Island, located about 9 kilometers southwest of Dongtou County, along with bird islands such as Shuangfeng Mountain, Nanbaiyu, and Beibaiyu, situated approximately 11 kilometers to its southeast. The scenic area covers an area of about 6.05 square kilometers. Known for its seventy-two scenic wonders, Daju Island is covered with lush forests and vibrant flowers, earning it the titles of “Oasis on the Sea” and “Overseas Paradise.”

The southeastern part of the island boasts a rich collection of rock formations. Boating from the sea allows visitors to view the uniquely shaped “Thousand Buddha Mountain” rock scenery, including landmarks such as David Rock, Hundred Fish Picture, Stone Buddha Watching the Sea, Immortal Boy Beating the Drum, and Elephant Drinking Water, all clearly visible. This area almost encompasses the essence of coastal island rock landscapes. At the summit of Daju Island lies the site of a military training ground where Zheng Chenggong, the famous general who resisted the Qing dynasty in the late Ming period, trained his troops, showcasing the grandeur of ancient military drills and serving as a major attraction within the scenic zone. Located southeast of Daju Island, the bird islands—Shuangfeng Mountain, Beibaiyu, and Nanbaiyu—are gathering spots for migratory birds such as gulls and egrets, making them ideal spots for offshore sightseeing and birdwatching.
