Xiandieyan Scenic Area

Xiandieyan Scenic Area is located 2.7 kilometers from the urban center of Dongtou County in Zhejiang Province, covering an area of approximately 1.71 square kilometers. It includes over 30 attractions of varying sizes, such as the Xiandieyan Mountain Stone Scenic Zone, the Nanpaitai Mountain Firing Range, and the Dashabo Beach. The area features towering boulders, precarious layers of rock, and a rugged landscape that presents a spectacular sight, making it an ideal destination for listening to the waves, viewing the sea, and appreciating the rocks.

The Xiandieyan beach, reefs, and massive rocks form a harmonious whole. Huge natural boulders are piled up into mountains, featuring unique rock formations such as Immortal Stone, Guanyin Worshiping, Twelve Zodiac Signs, and Fairy Carrying a Golden Boy, all standing firmly in the sea. Legend has it that these giant rocks were stacked by immortals, hence the name. Climbing up from the beach to the lakeside platform and overlooking the tides, you can feel the platform sway as the waves rush in. Boating on the sea, you can see sights such as the Eighteen Fishing Platforms and the Clam Near Immortal. Beneath Xiandieyan lies the Gulang Cave, a long, deep trench where surging waves create thunderous sounds. The Xiandieyan scenery is richly layered and is praised as a “marine bonsai garden.” With its stunning beauty, it captivates and enchants all who visit.

The Guanyin Taming the Lion Rock resembles Guanyin sitting upright while a red lion looks up as if listening to her teachings. As the tide rises and falls, it seems like thousands of lotus flowers blooming beneath Guanyin’s seat. Standing beside Xiandieyan and looking southwest, you can take in the bustling and lively Dongtou Fishing Port. At the top of the rock is the Sunlight Rock, which features a skylight cave. Around noon on sunny days, sunlight shines through the cave, creating dazzling colorful beams. When boating on the sea and looking up, you can see sights such as “Journey to the West,” “Immortal Wearing a Hat,” “Twelve Zodiac Signs,” and “Climbing Toward Immortality.”

The Xiandieyan Scenic Area boasts towering boulders, precarious layers of rock, and a rugged landscape that presents a spectacular sight, making it an ideal spot for listening to the waves, viewing the sea, surfing, appreciating rocks, and enjoying beach baths. Here, attractions such as Guanyin Taming the Lion, Sphinx, General Rock, Gulang Cave, Pig Head Rock, Golden Eagle Welcoming Guests, Climbing Toward Immortality, Immortal Boy Wearing a Hat, and the Twelve Zodiac Signs are vividly lifelike. The Pearl Reef features exquisitely arranged rocks, and the Eighteen Fishing Platforms rise step by step, making it a great place for fishing, sketching, catching seafood, and collecting shells and snails.

The Xiandieyan Scenic Area is situated at an important East China Sea coastal defense site. Visitors can also participate in activities such as firing ancient cannons and crossing suspension bridges. The area also showcases over 30 cliff sculptures created by Hong Shiqing, a professor at the China Academy of Art and hailed as the “No. 1 Rock Carving Artist in China,” adding an artistic touch to your stone-viewing experience.
