Haixia Military Theme Park

Victory Bay Island covers an area of 0.37 square kilometers. Originally named Coffin Bay, it is surrounded by sea on all sides, featuring a tranquil environment and expansive views. On January 15, 1952, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army fought a fierce battle here in the Battle of Coffin Bay to liberate Dongtou, raising the red flag of victory atop Guanchao Mountain, thereby achieving the complete liberation of the entire Dongtou region. In October 2000, the Dongtou County Government built Haixia Theme Park—the country’s first coastal defense military theme park—on the ruins of the former battlefield. During his inspection of the site, then Minister of National Defense  inscribed the words: “Follow the martyrs’ legacy and forge a bright future.” Haixia Theme Park, together with cultural sites such as the Dongtou Pioneer Women Militia Company Memorial Hall, Mazu Temple, Dongtou Liberation Monument, and Victory Bridge, forms the Dongsha Scenic Area.

Haixia Military Theme Park is located on Haixia Village, Beiao Town, Victory Bay Island, at the northeasternmost tip of Dongtou County. It is 5.8 kilometers southwest of the county seat. Covering an area of 0.18 square kilometers, the theme park features a range of military-themed activities and exhibits, including the “Haixia Movie Set,” “Military Training Activity Zone,” “Huashan Cliff Path,” “Battlefield Mine Detection,” “Jungle Combat Course,” “Forest Climbing,” “National Defense Knowledge Gallery,” “Military Equipment Exhibition Room,” and “CS” live-action combat games. Retired fighter jets, artillery, and weaponry are also on display. The park offers rich military experiences that combine fun with educational insight. There are numerous watchtowers, bunkers, and trenches, making it exceptionally rich in red tourism resources. Notable sights include the Generals’ Inscription Wall, military defense and liberation commemorative sculptures. It is also a prime destination for exploring mysterious coastal defense installations, witnessing the history of Dongtou’s liberation, and understanding the “Haixia Spirit.” It serves as a classic red tourism site for youth to receive revolutionary tradition education, recognized at the provincial, municipal, and county levels.

Haixia Military Theme Park is a Zhejiang Provincial National Defense Education Base, a Dongtou County Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and a Wenzhou Municipal Patriotic Education Base.
