Qingfu Temple

Qingfu Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Dongtou County.

Qingfu Temple is located in a mountain valley to the south of Shaping Village, Luxi Township, Dongtou County. Initially built during the Qing Dynasty, it faces south and is also known as the "Three Treasures Hall." During the Jiaqing era (1796–1820), Master Yuhai from Yuhuan expanded the temple and named it "Qingfu Temple," which was later renovated during the Tongzhi era (1862–1874). The temple has three courtyards and three bays, with a width of 11.75 meters and a depth of 20 meters. The mountain gate has three bays, featuring a large central gate with a plaque inscribed “Qingfu Temple” above the lintel; behind it are a stage, side rooms, and the main hall. The structure features a post-and-lintel beam system and a flush-gable roof. Due to its remote island location, with limited access to resources, the temple came under the management of local residents, resulting in a mix of Buddhist and other deities being enshrined—apart from the Three Treasures and Guanyin, other statues were also added. The temple still houses a stone lion dating back to the first year of the Qing Kangxi reign (1662) and a tax stone stele from the twelfth year of the Guangxu reign (1886).

Luxi Township: Luxi Township is situated on Luxi Island in the northeastern part of Dongtou County. The township is named after the island. It lies 16.4 kilometers southwest of Beiao Town, the county seat. To the east and south, it borders the East China Sea; to the west, it faces Guanyin Reef on Mengmen Island across the Huangda Gorge waterway; and to the north, it looks out over the sea toward Yuhuan County in Taizhou region. The township government is located in Luxi Village.

The jurisdiction includes Luxi Island and 12 uninhabited islands and 26 reefs in the nearby sea area, such as North Shan Yu, South Shan Yu, Cao Li Yu, Cao Yu, Bai Long Yu, and Mao Shan Yu, covering a land area of 10.06 square kilometers (accounting for 10.03% of the total area of the county)...
