Shimen Cave

Shimen Cave is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Guide: Here you’ll find a breathtaking series of uniquely styled waterfalls. The lowest one cascades down from a 1,125-meter cliff, resembling a hanging silk ribbon, splashing like leaping pearls, and scattering like a silver mist. The entire scenic area consists of four zones: Cave Heaven Waterfall, Prince’s Scenic Spot, Immortal Peach, and Shigu Lake. It combines lush forests, a rich collection of cultural relics, the majestic beauty of waterfalls, and a pleasant climate, making it a “heavenly cave paradise” characterized by tranquility, seclusion, spirituality, antiquity, wonder, danger, wilderness, and charm. Cliff Inscriptions The cliff inscriptions at Shimen Cave have a long history and diverse content, boasting high literary and artistic value. There are 117 cliff inscriptions left by historical figures and literati such as Xie Lingyun, Ruan Yuan, Shen Kuo, and Guo Moruo since the Southern Dynasties. : Shimen Cave Provincial Scenic Area is located on the southern bank of the Ou River, 31 kilometers northwest of the county town, with National Highway 330 across the river, offering convenient transportation. In 1963, Shimen Cave was designated as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit; in 1985, it was approved as a provincial scenic area; and in 1991, it was listed as a provincial forest park.

Transportation

Bus: Take a bus from Lishui East Bus Station to Qingtian County. Buses run from 6:30 to 18:00 every 20 minutes. The fare is 24 yuan. Get off at the Shimen Cave ticket office.

Self-driving: Hangzhou (departure) — Hang-Jin-Qu Expressway to Jinliwen Expressway (Jinhua–Lishui section) (about 3 hours) — Lishui (urban area) — National Highway 330 (1 hour) — Qingtian (to the scenic area)

Ticket

Joint ticket: 90 yuan (includes round-trip transport to the second attraction, Bowen Ancient Village; it takes about ten minutes to drive up the mountain). Individual tickets: Shimen Cave 60 yuan, Bowen Ancient Village 30 yuan, transport fee 10 yuan; student discount available (half price); Chen Cheng’s Former Residence: 30 yuan/person
