China Stone Carving City

China Stone Carving City is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

China Stone Carving City is located in Shankou Town, Qingtian County — the birthplace of Qingtian stone carving culture. Shankou Town is the main production area of Qingtian stone carvings and one of the largest centers in China for the production, sale, and trade of stone carvings and seals. It serves as an important distribution hub for carved stones in the country. Nearly every household here runs a stone carving workshop and has a display room for stone carvings. Stone carving shops and workshops are found everywhere.

China Stone Carving City faces south and consists of two parts: the stone carving market and the stone carving boutique hall. It covers an area of over 18,000 square meters and is composed of eight six-story brick-concrete buildings and side rooms on the east and west sides that serve as enclosures. The total construction area is approximately over 200,000 square meters. The ground floor of each building is used as a stone carving shop and studio, totaling 101 units.

The Boutique Stone Carving Building covers an area of about 1,000 square meters. It is a seven-story brick-concrete structure with a construction area of over 4,000 square meters and features a simple European-style design.

The first floor of the Boutique Hall is for stone carving shops, the second floor houses display rooms for stone carving works, and the third, fourth, and fifth floors are personal collections and residences of master stone carving artisans.

Background: China Stone Carving City was invested in and built by Wang Zehou, a renowned overseas Chinese leader from Qingtian residing in Italy, with a total investment of 26 million yuan. The exterior of China Stone Carving City is decorated with granite at the base, featuring white paint on the front façade, aluminum alloy windows and doors, and red glazed tiles. A large stone inscribed with the words “China Stone Carving City,” penned by Ni Dongfang, a national master of arts and crafts, stands at the entrance, serving as a symbolic landmark that combines local characteristics with a modern aesthetic.

Construction of China Stone Carving City began in 1999, and it was completed and opened on October 7, 2001. It started construction in 2001, was completed in October 2003, and began operations.
