Former Residence of Chen Cheng

The Former Residence of Chen Cheng is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

Chen Cheng (1897–1965), courtesy name Cixiu, was born in Gaoshi Township, Qingtian, and spent his childhood in Gaoshi. He once served as Vice President and Premier of the Executive Yuan, among other roles. A house where he was born and lived during his childhood still stands in his hometown of Gaoshi. It is a typical example of traditional southern Zhejiang architecture. In April 1934, he donated this house to Gaoshi Primary School to be used as a library, club, and office space. Additionally, there is a villa located within the Shimen Cave Provincial Scenic Area, and in Xinsi Lane, Qingtian County, two brick-and-wood houses where Chen Cheng’s first wife, Wu Sunlian, once lived are still preserved.
