Residential architecture. Oriented west to east, the overall layout consists of two courtyards front and back, with wing rooms on both sides, all featuring double-eaved second floors. The building covers a construction area of approximately 1,865 square meters and has a square floor plan. In front of the building is a screen wall. Upon entering through the first gate, there is a lobby, the front eaves gate tower is of a four-pillar, three-story style, constructed with a mix of brick and stone. The gate lintel is inscribed with the four characters “紫气遥来” (Purple Air Comes from Afar), and the four gate pillars are adorned with the “Five Blessings Descend upon the House” motif (banana leaves with five bats of varying sizes), all carvings made of Qingtian stone. There are five rooms on each side of the courtyard. The main hall of the second courtyard is five bays wide, with a roof frame of seven purlins and five pillars including a front corridor, utilizing central pillars. The two halls and wing rooms are interconnected by corridors. The rear courtyard screen wall is in the form of a memorial archway screen, with an elegant and classic design. The screen wall features painted poetry and paintings, as well as embedded blue gemstones (blue glass).

The Shankou Lin Residence features a rational layout, exquisite carvings, and is well-preserved. It is a Qing Dynasty residential building in our province that embodies the regional architectural style and characteristics of southwestern Zhejiang.
