Huyan Pagoda

Huyan Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Longyou County.

Situated in Caolong Village, Qidu Township, 9 kilometers east of the county seat, it was constructed in the 37th year of the Jiajing reign during the Ming Dynasty (1558). This six-sided, seven-story hollow brick pagoda is built in a pavilion style and reaches a height of 30 meters. The base, or Sumeru pedestal, is made of stacked stone strips. The pagoda body has a gentle inward slope, and each level has arched doorways on alternating sides. Brick pillars are used, along with architraves. Each tier features a five-layer corbelled brick cornice, and the finial is made of stone. On the second level, a brick plaque on the front bears the four characters “湖岩壮观” (Magnificent Scenery of Huyan). It was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit in October 1984.
