Zesui Architectural Complex

The Zesui Architectural Complex is a cultural heritage site protected by Zhejiang Province.

The Zesui Architectural Complex is located in Tashi Town, Longyou County, dating from the Ming Dynasty to the Republic of China period.

The ancient village of Zesui was first built during the Yuandade era and still preserves 128 buildings from the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods, including ancestral halls, residences, shops, ancient wells, and ponds.

These buildings are constructed around two lakes and are laid out in an overall Bagua (Eight Trigrams) pattern. The main surname in the village is Xu, with another surname being Wang. The ancestors of the Xu family once built a grand ancestral hall called the Xu Ancestral Hall and thirteen branch ancestral halls (halls). However, the Xu Ancestral Hall has been converted into an auditorium, and only two of the thirteen branch ancestral halls remain: the Tangyan Hall and the Longxue Hall. There are also remains of two other branch ancestral halls.

Walking along the preserved bluestone-paved paths, reporters explored the village of Zesui. Traditional wood carvings with exquisite craftsmanship can be seen everywhere—some featuring diverse poses and up to five or six layers, creating a strong three-dimensional effect. The carvings depict figures, animals, flowers, pavilions, towers, and local operas. Brick carvings and stone carvings are also traditional decorations found throughout the ancient village of Zesui.

On January 13, 2017, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province announced it as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Protection Units.

Tashi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Longyou County. It was called Tashi Township in 1949, changed to a commune in 1961, reverted to township in 1983, and became a town in 1991. Located in the northern part of the county, it is 12 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 50 square kilometers, it has a population of 28,000. Roads lead to Tashi, with Tashi Station and stops such as Xiazhang and Qianjia.
