Taicang Port

Taicang Port is located in the eastern part of Taicang, on the southern bank of the Yangtze River estuary. Historically known as Liujia Port, it was once the departure point for the seven great voyages of Zheng He, the famous Ming Dynasty navigator. With deep waters close to shore, straight coastlines, stable beaches, unique scenery, and beautiful seascapes, it is now revealing vast potential and promising prospects with its distinctive charm.

The development and construction of Taicang Port began in early 1992. In November 1993, the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government approved the Taicang Port Development Zone as a key provincial port development zone. In November 1996, the first-class port of Taicang passed national inspection and officially opened to foreign vessels. On January 18, 1997, the port's inauguration ceremony was held, marking a new stage in the development of Taicang Port.

The Taicang Port Development Zone has a planned development area of 180 square kilometers. The shoreline is divided into five categories: residential, tourism, and fishing shorelines; dedicated deep-water liquid bulk cargo terminal shorelines; public terminal shorelines for large container and general cargo; dedicated deep-water dry bulk cargo terminal shorelines; and reserved shoreline for future port construction. The land area is divided into four functional zones: COSCO International City, Petrochemical Industrial Zone, Riverside Basic Industrial Zone, and Tourism and Resort Zone.
