Taicang Jincang Lake Wetland Park is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Jincang Lake Wetland Park is situated in Donglin Village, Chengxiang Town, in the northern part of Taicang City. It ranges from the Sujiaotai Expressway in the south to the boundary of Chengxiang Town in the north, from Shiputang in the east to Tasha Highway in the west. The planned total area is 6 square kilometers. The park features dense rivers and ponds, with a central lake covering 600,000 square meters, which was formed by centralized earth extraction during the construction of the Sujiaotai Expressway. It is surrounded by crisscrossing rivers of various sizes, making it a rare wetland area. Wetlands are known as the “kidneys of the city,” and their sponge-like absorption capacity plays a significant role in improving water quality, enriching ecological chains, and protecting the environment. Suzhou has a dense network of waterways and is a major wetland city in the province, with wetland resources accounting for over 40% of its land area. Among the 94 wetland sites in Suzhou listed in Jiangsu Province’s protection catalog, about 57% are included in the provincial total.

Guided by ecological theories, the development of Jincang Lake Park prioritizes the protection of large bodies of water, woodland, natural landscapes, biological resources, and local culture. The principles focus on preserving and continuously improving the habitats and living conditions of various wetland flora and fauna, while moderately developing activities such as sightseeing, scientific education, and leisure vacationing. The park is divided into “one core, one belt, and five zones.” The core is Jincang Lake, the belt is the main thoroughfare running through the park, and the five zones are the Wetland Ecological Conservation Area, Wetland Experience Area, Jincang Lake Tourist Area, Wetland Agricultural Sightseeing Area, and Leisure Resort Area. The leisure and sightseeing zone also includes attractions such as a water garden, reed maze, and artist village. The wetland park was invested in by Chengxiang Town Government, with an estimated total investment of 353 million yuan.

An 800,000-square-meter lakeside core area has been completed and opened to the public. Currently, the park has two entrances: the west gate and the east gate. Inside, there are facilities including a spacious lawn, barefoot park, boat dock, Western restaurant, Asian restaurant, and an eastern clubhouse. There are also scenic spots such as the Fragrance Garden, Hundred Flowers Garden, bamboo forest, and plum blossom garden. The park also offers recreational facilities including aerial bicycles, water bikes, dragon boat racing, kayaking, “Shark Island Battle,” and floating inflatable spheres. Each year, the park hosts three major events: the Jincang Lake Kite Festival, Dragon Boat Race, and International Cycling Competition.

With its thousand-acre lake surface, wetland forests, dedicated bike paths, open lawns, ecological bird islands, barefoot family play areas, floral music fountain plaza, and romantic cherry blossom road... the park provides a natural retreat and rejuvenating destination for people of all ages.

Public Transport: Take bus routes 204, 205, 212 (night), 213, or 401 within Taicang City and get off at Jincang Lake Station.

Self-Drive Routes:

From Shanghai: Take the Shanghai-Jiading Expressway — Shenyang-Haikou Expressway G15 — exit at Taicang — take Situ Road — turn left onto Zhenghe Road — turn right onto Dongting Road — go north to the intersection of Dongting Road and Xingang Road.

From Suzhou: Take the Sujiaotai Expressway — exit at Shuangfeng — head toward Shuangfeng — turn right onto Xingang Road — continue to the intersection of Xingang Road and Dongting Road.
