The Zhoubeidian Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

Zhoubeidian Site

The Zhoubeidian Site is located in Zhoubeidian Village, Xiajia Town. Originally, it was a roughly 8-meter-high earthen mound covering an area of about 15,000 square meters. It was discovered in the 1970s and formally excavated in 1993. The excavation covered an area of 134 square meters, during which 20 ash pits were cleared and over 50 artifacts such as pottery and stone tools were unearthed. The site can be divided into three stratigraphic phases from bottom to top: the first phase yielded artifacts similar to those of the Longshan Culture of the Wangyoufang type; the second phase included items akin to those of the Yueshi Culture of the Yinjiacheng type; and the third phase featured bronze culture artifacts from the Western Zhou to the Spring and Autumn period in the Ningzhen region. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province in 2006.
