Fu Baoshi Memorial Hall (Former Residence of Fu Baoshi on Han Kou West Road) is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

Fu Baoshi Memorial Hall In his early years, Mr. Fu Baoshi studied in Japan at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, recommended by the renowned traditional Chinese painter Xu Beihong. After returning to China in 1937, he taught at the Art Department of Nanjing Central University. Throughout his life, he tirelessly explored traditional Chinese painting theory, drawing inspiration from the Six Dynasties period and studying the techniques of masters such as Shi Tao, Mi Fu, and the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. He developed a unique landscape painting technique known as "Baoshi Cun" (Baoshi’s textured strokes), using just a few brushstrokes to depict the majestic beauty of overlapping mountains. He excelled especially in portraying waterfalls and rainy scenes, earning him the acclaim “Fu’s Wind and Rain over Zhongshan.”

The main building of Fu Baoshi’s former residence is a two-story Western-style villa built against a hill, standing gracefully among green pines and bamboos in an elegant setting. The courtyard features a white marble bust of Mr. Fu Baoshi. The main building has been converted into exhibition rooms displaying photos from various periods of his life, theoretical works, collections of paintings, seal engravings, and some original drafts. It also includes a restored version of his former studio, featuring his painting desk, bronze brush stand, antique shelves, and walls adorned with plaques inscribed “Nanshi Zhai” (Southern Stone Studio) by Guo Moruo and Qi Yanming, as well as an unfinished large landscape painting. The current director of the Fu Baoshi Memorial Hall is Fu Ershi, and the honorary director is Fu Baoshi’s wife, Luo Shihui.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites.

Fu Baoshi (1904–1965), courtesy name Qingyuan, birth name Fu Zhongzhou, commonly known as Changsheng or Ruilin, was born in Zhangtang Village, Beigang Township, Yushui District, Xinyu City. His parents, Fu Juhe and Madam Xu, lived in poverty and made a living by repairing umbrellas in Nanchang City.

Fu Baoshi was born in 1904 in Nanchang. At the age of seven, he began attending a private school. In 1913, his father passed away, and life became extremely difficult. The family survived on the meager income earned by his mother, who repaired umbrellas during the day and did laundry at night.
