Former Site of the Mexican Embassy

The former site of the Mexican Embassy is located at No. 15 Tianzhu Road, Gulou District, Nanjing. On February 26, 1946, the Sino-Mexican Treaty of Friendship was exchanged at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and both countries established embassies and appointed ambassadors to each other. On August 28, 1947, the Mexican government appointed Aguirre as the first plenipotentiary ambassador to China and rented the property at No. 15 Tianzhu Road in Nanjing as the embassy site.

The property was purchased before 1937 by Wang Changchi, an employee of the Nationalist Government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the alias Wang Nianzu. It covers an area of 7,200 square meters, with a built-up area of 1,951 square meters, including one two-story Western-style garden house with brick, wood, and concrete structure consisting of 12 rooms, two Western-style bungalows with 12 rooms, and two toilets, totaling 26 rooms. The total usable floor space is 912 square meters, with auxiliary areas covering 310 square meters. The Mexican Embassy vacated the premises in 1950. The site is now used as residential quarters for cadres of the Nanjing Military Command Headquarters.
