The British Embassy was located at No. 18 Shuangmenlou, Hujuguang North Road (now No. 85). It was built on leased land between the 13th and 14th years of the Republic of China (1924–1925). The embassy covered an area of 29 mu and 3 fen (19,351.4 square meters). In August 1948, nine two-story British-style buildings with brick, wood, and concrete structures were constructed, along with ten Western-style bungalows, Chinese-style bungalows, six simple houses, and galvanized iron structures, totaling 253 rooms with a total floor area of 5,456 square meters. After the liberation of Nanjing, most of the buildings were demolished due to urban redevelopment and road widening. Currently, only one two-story office building facing south remains, with a floor area of 950 square meters. It was listed as a Nanjing Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1992 and is currently used by the Shuangmenlou Hotel. (In 2002, it was listed as a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.)
