Former Site of the Nationalist Government's Control Yuan and Legislative Yuan

The former site of the Nationalist Government's Control Yuan and Legislative Yuan is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

Former Nationalist Government – Former Site at No. 105 Zhongshan North Road (originally No. 261).

The building was initially constructed in early 1973, covering a total courtyard area of 6,797 square meters with a built-up area of 3,876 square meters. It features a Sino-Western architectural style, with a reinforced concrete structure, hip-and-gable roof covered with small tiles, and side wings also topped with hip-and-gable roofs. The main entrance has a prominent porch. It was designed by the renowned architect Tong ??. The main building is a two-story structure with blue bricks and flat tiles, consisting of 3 blocks and 218 rooms, facing east and situated to the west. There are also auxiliary buildings, bringing the total number of rooms to 330.

The Nationalist Government – Established in October 1928, its initial office was located at No. 273 Baixia Road on the campus of Nanjing Maritime School. In March 1938, after the infamous collaborator Liang Hongzhi established the so-called "Reformed Government of the Republic of China," this site became the "Nanjing Municipal Administrative Office." By March 1940, after the establishment of the Wang puppet Nationalist Government, it served as the office of the "Wang Puppet Nanjing Special Municipal Government." It was not until the Nationalist Government returned to Nanjing that this site became the office of the Nationalist Government. On March 31, 1947, according to the Nationalist Government organization law, there were 17 committees set up: Civil Law, Criminal Law, Commercial Law, Internal Affairs, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Economy, Finance, Legal System, Budget, Education and Culture, Agriculture and Forestry, Transportation, Social Affairs, Land Administration, Border Affairs, and Overseas Chinese Affairs. The former Military Committee was renamed the Ministry of National Defense Committee. According to the organization law, the heads of all committees were uniformly referred to as chairmen. In early 1949, the Nationalist Government's organizations moved to Guangzhou along with the Nationalist Government.
